Armenia increases its share in EDB

ArmInfo. On March 9, the Armenian government approved the signing of an agreement with the government of the Russian Federation on the sale and purchase of the Russian Federation's share in the paid-in authorized capital of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).

According to the source, at present the authorized capital of the EDB  is 7 billion US dollars, of which paid- in capital is 1.5 billion,  and capital on demand is 5.5 billion US dollars.

The Republic of Armenia became a full member of the Eurasian  Development Bank in April 2009.  Armenia's contribution to the  capital of the bank is 100 thousand US dollars. The share of RA is  0.007%.  The cost of each share of the authorized capital is 1,000 US  dollars, and each paid-in share corresponds to one vote.

At present, the volume of the EDB investment portfolio, taking into  account the implemented programs, is $13.4 billion, of which $484.2  million was provided to Armenia within the framework of 23 projects.

"After the acquisition of 64,000 shares worth $64 million, Armenia's  share in the capital of the EDB will be 4.22%," the document says.

In January, it was reported that the Council of the Eurasian  Development Bank (EDB) unanimously approved the redistribution of the  authorized capital between the member states. < A part of the package  of shares belonging to the Russian Federation, which is 321,151  shares in the paid-up authorized capital of the bank, is equally  redistributed among the other member states. As a result, the share  of the Russian Federation in the EDB is reduced from 65.9761% to  44.7878%>, the Bank said in a statement. It was noted that according  to the results of redistribution, the shares of the member countries  in the authorized capital of EDB are as follows: Kazakhstan- 37.29%;  Armenia - 4.23%; Kyrgyzstan - 4.23%; Belarus - 5.2%; Tajikistan -  4.25%.

The EDB was established by Russia and Kazakhstan in 2006 and is  headquartered in Alma-Ata. In 2009, Armenia and Tajikistan joined the  agreement on the establishment of the bank, Belarus -in 2010, and  Kyrgyzstan- a year later . The authorized capital of the EDB is $7  billion. The bank finances projects in the field of transport,  digital systems, green energy, etc.
