ArmInfo.Yerevan hosts the second meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group on Drought (IWG on drought) and a regional capacity building workshop to develop an effective policy within the framework of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
Mr Alain-Richard Donwahi, UNCCD COP 15 President, arrived in Armenia to participate in the event. As part of his visit, Alain-Richard Donwahi, held a meeting with Armenia's Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan.
The sides discussed agricultural challenges caused by climate change, ways of meetings them and effective use of water and land resources.
Mr Khojoyan said that extensive use of advanced water-saving irrigation technologies is of vital importance for the sector's development.
Mr Khojoyan briefed Mr Alain-Richard Donwahi on the agricultural reform programmes in Armenia and the sector's adaptation climate changes.
