ArmInfo. The information published in the media about the start of regular shipping from Batumi to Novorossiysk is not true. This was reported by Prime agency with reference to the message of the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia.
Earlier, on the page of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia in social networks, a message published that the sea transportation of goods on the Batumi-Novorossiysk route had been launched. At the same time, it was noted that a trial shipping of containerized cargo has already been carried out. "The information spread by some Armenian media about the start of regular sea transportation from Batumi to Novorossiysk in Russia in April is of an interpretation and does not correspond to reality," the message posted on the agency's official page on the social network said.
The agency said that in April, the Palauan-flagged vessel, the Haci Musa Ucak, did indeed make two commercial voyages between Batumi and Novorossiysk. At the same time, the agency notes that these are not regular sailings, but commercial ones that are carried out systematically. "The company - the owner of this ship is not included in the sanctions list and continues to operate commercial sailings. As for the cargo, it is completely transit and is intended for Armenia," the agency noted. The Ministry of Finance and the Maritime Transport Agency are constantly monitoring the ships and their owners in connection with the sanctions, the agency added.
