ArmInfo.The indicators of domestic and international tourism have equalized in Armenia.
Minister of Economy of Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan, stated at the "Discover Armenia" Tourism Domestic Expo, where the tourism features and potential of all regions of the country were presented for three days.
In particular, he said that the number of domestic tourists in 2022 amounted to 1.6 million people, which is equal to the number of foreign tourists who visited Armenia last year.
"This suggests that the development of domestic tourism is also extremely important," Kerobyan stressed. In this context, the Minister noted that today regional tourism companies, hotels and gastro-yards are actively developing in Armenia, which is also facilitated by a favorable business environment in the country.
In parallel with this, according to him, the state is making major investments in the development of tourism infrastructure. In particular, Kerobyan noted that the government plans to promote the development of 20 tourism clusters in the coming years.
According to the data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, 1.67 million tourists visited Armenia in 2022, which is twice the figure of a year ago.
