Reconstructed traffic lanes put into operation at Upper Lars  checkpoint

ArmInfo. On June 21, Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia  Ashot Muradyan was in Vladikavkaz, where he took part in the ceremony of commissioning the reconstructed traffic lanes at the Upper Lars checkpoint.

According to the press service of the State Revenue Committee, within  the framework of the visit, the Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue  Committee of the Republic of Armenia met with the Acting Head of the  Federal Customs Service of Russia Ruslan Davydov. The meeting was  also attended by Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and  Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Armen Simonyan and Customs  Attache of the RA Embassy in Russia Vahan Hakobyan.

During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed related to  increasing the throughput capacity of the Upper Lars checkpoint, as  well as preventing the accumulation of vehicles and the formation of  queues.

On June 15, 15 new lanes were activated at the checkpoint, as a  result of which 39 lanes are currently in operation, of which 12 are  for trucks (6 entries and 6 exits), 24 are for passenger cars. (12  entries and 12 exits), 2 - for passenger buses and 1 - for oversized  cargo. As a result of the launch of new lanes, the throughput  capacity of the checkpoint has increased by 30% and on average about  1,300 trucks are processed per day, which has led to the elimination  of queues on both sides of the checkpoint.

An agreement was reached between the parties regarding the regulation  of the operational interaction of the relevant officials in order to  ensure the stable operation of Upper Lars. In particular, the process  of exchanging the results of X-ray scanning of cargoes on the Russian  side has begun, which allows using the results of scanning carried  out on the Armenian side. This mechanism makes it faster to process  goods on the Russian side.

It should be reminded that on June 7, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan  met with the head of the Russian government Mikhail Mishustin, during  which an agreement was reached to ensure by joint efforts the prompt  solution of existing problems at the Verkhny Lars automobile  checkpoint.
