ArmInfo. Armenia's Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan hosted a delegation led by Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Fan Yong.
The sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, as well as the details of Mr Sanosyan's forthcoming visit to China. Minister Sanosyan highlighted the importance of Chinese companies' involvement in various sectors in Armenia. He welcomes Chinese companies' more frequently submitting tenders in Armenia-announced projects. The minister also highlighted the importance of effective implementation of the Kaps reservoir construction project.
On April 21, the Regional Development signed an agreement with Shanxi Construction Investment Group Co and Shanxi Hydraulic Construction Engineering Bureau Group Co, both of which won the tender for the Kaps reservoir construction project.
The project budget is EUR 97.8mln, with EUR 68mln being a loan issued by the KfW Bank and the rest the Armenian government's share. The project is expected to improve available water supply to the Shirak main water canal and Akhuryan right-bank canal, with about 17,000 hectares of lands. Moreover, gravity irrigation will be installed in an area of 2,280 hectares, which will save up to 1.3mln kwh of electric energy.
