Vache Terteryan: construction of Kaps Reservoir has already begun

ArmInfo. The construction of the  Kaps Reservoir has already begun. Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia Vache Terteryan announced during a meeting of the Parliamentary Commission on Territorial Administration, Local Self- Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection on July 12.

He also said that the construction work of the Vedi Reservoir is at the final stage. Design work on the Reservoirs of Argichi and Astghadzor, according to the Deputy Minister, will be completed this year, after which construction will begin. In addition, as the Deputy Minister noted, about 4 more small reservoirs are in the design stage. "I can say that there is progress on this issue," Terteryan stressed.

It should be reminded that earlier it was reported that the budget of the project for the construction of the Kaps Reservoir is 97.8 million euros, of which 68.5 euros are credit funds from KFW Bank, the rest is co-financing of the RA government.

As a result of the implementation of the project, the level of water supply of the Shirak main and Akhuryan right-bank canals and about 17,000 hectares of land under their management will be increased. In addition, it will be possible to replace the mechanical irrigation of 2,280 hectares of land with gravity irrigation, which will save 1.3 million kWh of electricity annually.

This spring, it became known that the Chinese  Shanxi Construction Investment Group Co and Shanxi Hydraulic Construction Engineering Bureau Group Co, which won the international tender, will build the Kaps Reservoir in Armenia. The agreement with the companies was signed on April 21 at the RA Territorial Development Fund.
