ArmInfo. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia Gnel Sanosyan today received a delegation led by Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Russian Railways OJSC, Chairman of the Board of Directors of South Caucasian Railways JSC Vyacheslav Pavlovsky.
According to the press service of the ministry, the minister highly appreciated the level of cooperation and activities of the SCR, which plays an important role in the functioning of the country's transport infrastructure, and noted the need for further joint work to improve the efficiency of the Armenian railway. According to him, special attention should be paid to the issue of increasing passenger traffic. The Deputy Head of Russian Railways, in turn, highly appreciated the cooperation with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures.
During the meeting the issues of concession property inventory, as well as tasks related to the implementation of the investment program for the development of railway transport in Armenia were discussed.
SCR, as an important infrastructure enterprise, in 2008 was transferred to the concession management of the Russian Railways. As Alexey Melnikov, General Director of SCR, previously told ArmInfo, in 2022 the company transported a total of 3.5 million cargoes, which is 8% higher than the originally planned plan and 12% higher than the year before last. The investment program of the company this year is about 2 billion drams. Most of the funds are directed to infrastructure maintenance, track repair, sleeper replacement, contact network, power supply, traction substations and rolling stock repair.
