ArmInfo.Armenia's Ministry of Economy will launch a crayfish farming programme next year.
According to the source, the program will be implemented from 2024 to 2026. Through partial compensation of investment costs in the amount of 50%, the program will contribute to the introduction of modern technologies for industrial crayfish breeding in Armenia, stimulating local production.
The program proposes to create breeding complexes for three types of crayfish. In particular: small - with an area of 460 sq.m., with a design capacity of 6 tons, the approximate (maximum) indicator of investment and production costs of the complex will be 72,000 thousand drams; medium - 800 sq.m., 12 tons, 129,900 thousand drams; large - 1000 sq.m., 18 tons, 183,790 thousand drams.
As part of the program, 4 small crayfish farms and 1 medium and large one each will be created annually. Thus, in 3 years, 12 small, 3 medium and 3 large modern crayfish farming complexes will be created in Armenia. The program was approved at a government meeting on April 13, 2023.
