ArmInfo. Armenia's Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, who is on a visit to China, has held a meeting with a business delegation from the Jiangsu province.
The parties discussed the possibilities of mutually beneficial cooperation between Armenian and Chinese businesses. Particular attention was paid to the prospects for cooperation in the energy sector. The Chinese side expressed interest in opening a cement plant in Armenia, establishing tractor production, creating a tractor assembly center and exporting products to neighboring markets.
The foreign trade turnover between Armenia and China amounted to $1.4bln, slowing down in annual growth from 38.5% to 35.4%. In particular, the volume of exports of Armenian goods to China turned from a 14.2% decline to an 18.3% increase, amounting to 280.3mln, while the volume of imports slowed down in growth from 69.9% to 40.6%, amounting to $1.1 billion. In the foreign trade turnover of Armenia, the share of China decreased on an annual basis from 13% to 11.5%
