ArmInfo.Armenia has high potential for development of the information technology sector. Ambassador Erin Elizabeth McKee, Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia at the US Agency for International Development (USAID), said during a meeting with Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Robert Khachatryan.
At the same time, she attached importance to the development of the digitalization process, noting that e- government increases the transparency and accountability of government activities for citizens, but, on the other hand, has some risks. The Ambassador drew attention to the issues of countering disinformation and cybersecurity.
According to the department's press service, the parties discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation with USAID, which could contribute to the development of the digitalization process in Armenia and e- government. The interlocutors also touched upon the possibilities of forming cooperation in other areas, implementing technological development programs and, in this context, attracting the private sector.
According to the RA Statistics Committee, in the first half of 2023, the revenue of the information and communication technologies sector in Armenia increased by 89.1%, amounting to 400.7 million drams.
