Yeghvard reservoir construction project remains high on government  agenda 

ArmInfo.The construction project of the Yeghvard reservoir continues to be relevant for the  Armenian government, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia Vache Terteryan stated in Armenia's Parliament on November 14.

According to him, the feasibility study for this project is currently  being analyzed, but more importantly, hydrological data. "Even  visually it is noticeable that serious changes are taking place in  hydrology, there are changes in water flows, and one must understand  that the Yeghvard reservoir must be filled from other water sources,"  Terteryan said, adding that all these problems are being considered,  especially in the context of a large reservoir, which could become  the largest after the one in Akhuryan. 

The Deputy Minister also said that the Vedi reservoir construction  project has entered its final stage and the construction of the Kaps  reservoir has begun. Of the 15 small reservoirs, tenders for  selecting contractors for construction have already been announced  for six, and their construction will begin next year. The development  of design and estimate documentation for another 4 small reservoirs  is in its final stage.

Earlier it was reported that the construction project of the Yeghvard  reservoir was suspended, which would save 50 million cubic meters of  water from Lake Sevan, and reserve 90 million cubic meters due to  floods and precipitation. m of water annually, which would allow  expanding the area of irrigated land by 3 thousand hectares.

According to the draft state budget for 2024, next year it is planned  to begin construction of three reservoirs and prepare documentation  for 15 more.
