Crossroads of Peace project is bolstered by economic calculations,  Pashinyan assures

ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan assures that the Crossroads of the Peace project is  bolstered by economic calculations.

"There are such calculations, and we can provide them, these are  calculations of an international organization. Secondly, the concept  of the Crossroads of the Peace is not only an economic calculation,  it is a much broader and more comprehensive project, it has not only  economic significance, it has very great political, security and  regional significance," Pashinyan said on December 6 in parliament  during government hour, answering a relevant question from an  opposition MP.

On October 26, speaking in the capital of Georgia, Prime Minister of  Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said that the government of the republic has  developed and presents the Crossroads of the Peace project as an  important part of the peace agenda.

" The key essence of that project is the development of  communications between Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the Islamic  Republic of Iran by means of renovating, building, and operating  roads, railways, pipelines, cables, and electricity lines.

The railways passing through the south and north of Armenia have not  been functioning regionally for thirty years, nor are many highways  connecting the east and the west, while the reactivation of these  roads would become a short and efficient route connecting the Caspian  Sea to the Mediterranean, both by rail and road.

Along the same lines, these rail and automotive communications could  become an efficient route linking the Gulf with the Georgian ports on  the South-Eastern shores of the Black Sea. Such a project would bring  enormous benefits to all countries of our region, and I wish to  invite the attention of governments and private investors to this  opportunity," the head of the Armenian government said.

Earlier in parliament, the head of the Ministry of Economy, Vahan  Kerobyan, said that if the government's Crossroads of the Peace  initiative is implemented, Armenia's GDP will grow by 30% in the  shortest possible time.
