Fines for absence of CMTPL agreement to be reduced 4-fold in Armenia

ArmInfo. In case of fulfillment of certain conditions by drivers in Armenia, the amount of fines for the absence of an insurance contract will be reduced 4-fold. At the plenary session on January 16, the National Assembly  of the Republic of Armenia introduced amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses in the second and final reading.

According to the author of the legislative initiative, MP from the  ruling Civil Contract faction Eduard Aghajanyan, currently, when  driving a car without compulsory motor liability insurance,  Currently, driving a car without an insurance policy is subject to a  fine of 100,000 drams. Under the proposed amendment, a person who  eliminates the violation within 24 hours after committing an  administrative offense will be exempt from the mandatory payment of  75% of the fine. That is, a citizen who has not concluded a  compulsory motor liability insurance agreement will pay not 100  thousand drams, but 25% of the total fine (25 thousand drams).
