ArmInfo. Armenia considers the participation of American capital in the country's mining industry important, Armenia's Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hovhannes Harutyunyan stated at a meeting with Mr Warren Wilson, Economic Unit Chief, U.S. Embassy in Armenia.
According to the press service of the Ministry, during the meeting Harutyunyan emphasized the importance of the mining industry for the further development of the country's economy and thanked the American side for its readiness to cooperate in this area.
The Deputy Minister also pointed to possible cooperation with the United States in the field of mining in order to exchange experience.
During the meeting, the need to strengthen mineral supply chains and continuity of cooperation in the mining industry was emphasized.
Harutyunyan thanked the guest for the fruitful discussions and expressed hope that keeping the issues discussed on the agenda will become an additional incentive for closer cooperation in the mining industry.
Earlier, ArmInfo, with reference to data from the RA Statistics Committee, reported that in the mining industry and open pit development in 2023. compared to 2022 the decline accelerated to 6.4% (from 3.2% a year earlier), providing a volume of 463.2 billion drams. In December last year alone, the mining sector achieved a production volume of 35 billion drams with a monthly growth of 7.9%.
