ArmInfo.The opening ceremony of Armenia's largest and most powerful Data Processing Center (DPC) of the OVIO company was held in Abovyan (Kotayk region).
The Data Center, put into commercial operation, provides a wide range of services in Armenia, among which cloud services occupy an important place, providing scalable, secure and efficient solutions.
The OVIO data center was built in compliance with high TIER III equipment and infrastructure reliability standards, which includes data backup, power from two power supply substations, redundant cooling systems, uninterrupted operation of the data center during maintenance and updates, and other advantages.
This reliable infrastructure will provide the client with unhindered data access and 24/7 service.
"It is my great honor to announce the official launch of the largest Data Center in Armenia. The launch of this ultra-modern structure is an important step towards the technological development of our country and emphasizes our commitment to strengthening Armenia's position in the global IT environment," OVIO CEO Hayk Faramazyan said. Expressing gratitude to the team, partners and the government of Armenia for their support, he noted that the Data Center will act as a catalyst for economic growth by attracting foreign companies, and will also focus local technological potential. "The Data Center has provided and will provide hundreds of new jobs, which will be filled with qualified specialists who are constantly being trained," the head of OVIO added.
According to the company's press service, more than 200 server racks were built within the framework of this ambitious project: this will be the largest data center in Armenia, which will provide secure processing and storage of data for large and small businesses, as well as for government agencies, which will also allow huge savings amounts required for the purchase of expensive equipment and its maintenance. Notably, the data center construction project received state support within the framework of the RA Ministry of Economy "Infrastructure in exchange for investment" program.
Days earlier it became known that Rostelecom Armenia company (GNC Alfa CJSC), has rebranded and will henceforth operate under the new OVIO brand. The company entered the telecom market in 2009 under the GNC-ALFA brand, having built over 3,000 kilometers of backbone network and becoming the largest player in the wholesale internet market, significantly reducing the market price for wholesale internet in Armenia.
