ArmInfo. Chaired by Nikol Pashinyan a meeting was held, during which the draft strategic employment program of Armenia was discussed.
During the discussion, the program priorities, goals, existing problems and ways to solve them were presented. The goal of the project is to increase employment by forming a competitive workforce and increasing labor productivity.
It was noted that the implementation of the set goals envisages, in particular, an increase in women's employment in order to fully and long-term realize their potential in the labor market, as well as the development of women's entrepreneurship, in particular, stimulating the employment of middle-aged women (30-40 years old). Nikol Pashinyan instructed to summarize the issues that arose during the discussion, the proposals presented, and to finalize the draft strategic program on their basis.
According to the RA Statistical Committee, as of March 1, 2024, 63.3 thousand people were looking for work (a decline of 6.3% per annum), of which over 45.6 thousand were unemployed, which is 3.9% lower than the figure for the previous year. Moreover, among the job seekers, women (38,472 thousand, with a y-o-y decrease of 10.2 percent) prevail over men (24.9 thousand, with a y-o-y increase of 0.4 percent).
