ArmInfo. Armenian wines were awarded 5 gold and 11 silver medals at the largest European tasting competition, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. This is stated in the message of the Armenian Viticulture and Winemaking Foundation.
This year the competition took place in Mexico, during which 7,500 types of wines from 42 countries were presented to a specialized commission.
Last year Armenia won 7 gold and 10 silver medals.
The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is considered a high-end wine competition internationally, where uncompromising impartiality and a rigorous selection process give consumers the confidence to buy award- winning wines without hesitation.
According to the Statistics Committee, in 2023 the volume of wine production in Armenia amounted to 14.1 million liters, which exceeds the figure of a year ago by 11.7%. According to the consulting research company Modex, in 2023 Armenia exported 4.4 million liters wines for $18.3 million. The volume of imports amounted to 1.4 million liters ($8.8 million).
In January-April 2024, according to statistical data, wine production decreased by 13.4%, slightly exceeding 3 million liters.
