Yerevan Municipality to allocate AMD 50mln for rehabilitation of  flood-affected communities

ArmInfo. The Yerevan Municipality will allocate 50 million drams for the restoration of  Armenian communities affected by severe flooding on May 25-26 in the north of the country. The decision on this was made at a meeting of the Council of Elders of the capital of the republic.

The funds, in particular, will be used to restore the city of  Alaverdi. This will allow the local community to apply to the  government for additional funding through sub-venice programs, which  will double the volume of assistance.

On May 26, a flood occurred in the north of Armenia, caused by heavy  precipitation, heavy rain and the overflow of the Debed, Aghstev and  Tashir rivers, which led to significant destruction of infrastructure  and the death of four people. A number of settlements in Lori and  Tavush regions are recognized as a disaster zone. In order to  eliminate the consequences of the disaster, an operational group was  formed under the leadership of the Minister of Territorial  Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Gnel  Sanosyan.
