Unemployment up in Armenia 

ArmInfo. In the first quarter of 2024, the unemployment rate in Armenia was 15.5%, while a year  earlier for the same period the unemployment rate was slightly lower - 13.7%. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.

In parallel with this, the employment level in the country decreased  accordingly - from 50.9% in the first quarter of 2023. up to 48.7%  for the reporting period.

According to the source, during the reporting period the number of  employed people amounted to 1.116.4 million people, which is 1.2%  lower than the year-ago figure, and there were 204.4 thousand  unemployed people, with an increase of 13.8% over the year. As of  June 1, 2024 63.5 thousand people were looking for work. (decline by  2% per annum). Moreover, there are much more women among job seekers  - 38.3 thousand (with an annual decline of 4.2%) than men - 25.1  thousand (with an annual increase of 3.3%).

As of June 1, 2024, demand from employers for labor decreased over  the year by 3.4% - to 3,041 people, and the load per vacancy was 21  people. (with annual constancy).

By June 2024, 1,143 citizens (1.8% of the total number of job  seekers) managed to find employment in Armenia, which is 17.6% higher  than the figure a year ago. Of those employed, 588 people. - women  (annual growth by 1%), and 555 people. - men (annual growth by  42.3%).
