Head of Economic Competition Protection Commission explains gas price  rise

ArmInfo. The price of liquefied gas averages 100-110 drams, which is due to an increase in prices on  the international exchange. Chairman of the Commission for the Protection of Competition (KPC) Gegham Gevorgyan stated this during a briefing on July 18, answering questions from journalists. At the  same time, he noted that the trend of rising prices is observed not only in our country, but throughout the world.

Gevorgyan urged not to compare the cost of liquefied gas in Armenia  with a number of other countries where domestic prices apply. "You  look at prices on the stock exchange, transportation costs, and then  compare whether our prices on the market are high or not," the  official emphasized.

He also denied information that the rise in prices in our country is  associated with the exit of 21 companies engaged in the import of  liquefied gas. Referring to the latest data, the head of the KPC said  that today there are 98 importing companies operating in Armenia, 10  large of which account for no more than 4-5%.

He also touched upon the situation on the gasoline market, where a  decrease in price (by 40-50 drams) has been registered, noting that  processes to study the situation are still underway.
