ArmInfo. Ambassador of Armenia to Georgia Ashot Smbatyan met with Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Embassy, the meeting discussed the possibilities of developing cooperation between Armenia and Georgia in the field of tourism.
According to the Tourism Committee of Armenia, in January-June of this year, out of the total number of tourists who visited the Republic of Armenia (964 thousand), 13% came from Georgia.
Meanwhile, according to the Georgian side, Armenia is among the top three countries in terms of the number of visits to Georgia in the first half of 2024.
According to statistics from the Georgian National Tourism Administration, foreigners made more than 3 million visits to Georgia in the first half of 2024, which is 5.6% more than in the same period last year.
The largest number of international visits in the first half of the year was recorded from neighboring countries.
Turkey is in first place - about 623 thousand visitors, an increase of 7.1% compared to January-June 2023; Russia is in second place - 527.5 thousand visitors, a decrease of 8.7%; Armenia - 387.7 thousand visitors, - 2.4%.
