Armenia to have 14,000 hectares more of cultivated lands by 2024 end

ArmInfo. By the end of 2024, the  area of cultivated land in Armenia will increase by more than 14  thousand hectares. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy of  the Republic of Armenia Tatevik Sargsyan at a press conference on  August 13.

According to her, the area of cultivated land has been increasing in  recent years. The Deputy Minister did not give specific figures, only  noting that today only 49.5% of the sown area in Armenia is  cultivated.  , the Deputy Minister assured.

In April of this year, at a forum dedicated to the topic of , former Deputy Minister of Agriculture of  Armenia Ashot Harutyunyan expressed concern about the significant  reduction in the area of arable land used in the republic.  Harutyunyan noted that in 2015, 351 thousand hectares of arable land  were cultivated out of the 446 thousand hectares available. However,  at the moment, according to him, the Statistical Committee reports  only 200 thousand hectares of cultivated land. At the same time,  Harutyunyan said that he does not believe the figures announced by  the Statistical Committee.
