ArmInfo. Additional number of  identification cards will be produced in Armenia. This decision was  made at a meeting of the RA government. 

As noted in the justification of the draft decision, there is  currently a need to purchase 150, 000 new identification cards. 

The budget funds previously allocated, amounting to109, 2 million  drams were insufficient. From January 1 to June 15, 2024, the  Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs  of the Republic of Armenia has already issued 71,548 identification  cards, surpassing the number issued in 2023 by 7,105. In the first  half of this year, it was projected that 107, 1 million drams would  be allocated to solve this problem, but the actual amount was 229,  089 million drams.

The difference will be covered by the decision of the executive  authority adopted today. It is proposed to purchase a new batch of  identification cards through a single person procurement. This  measure is being implemented due to the emergency situation, caused  by the need to submit income declarations, which require specific  documents. By adopting this decision, it will be possible to ensure  continuous issuance of ID cards to citizens of Armenia.
