ArmInfo. The National Polytechnic University of Armenia hosted a regional meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) aimed at developing actions at the national level (NDC).
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, Deputy Minister Hakob Vardanyan spoke at the beginning of the meeting.
Through these meetings, trainings and expert missions, the project promotes the exchange of best practices among IAEA Member States and builds capacity for developing energy and climate strategies. The program also provides additional support to Member States developing national research in line with the program objectives.
The main outcome of the event is to improve the practice and experience of developing and implementing NDCs in the Member States participating in the technical cooperation project. This may include an overview of the NDC, objectives, policies and planned actions with a focus on the energy sector, stakeholder engagement, financial flows and mechanisms, monitoring and reporting, and modeling approaches.
Potential challenges and barriers to developing and implementing NDCs were also discussed.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Macedonia, Poland, Moldova, Serbia, Slovakia, and Tajikistan.
Armenia has been a member of the IAEA since 1993. The IAEA exercises control over the only operating nuclear facility in the country. Cooperation with the IAEA in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy is effectively developing not only in the field of nuclear energy, but also in the field of nuclear medicine and other areas of the country's economy.
