Armenia left out of trans-border Black Sea submarine cable project

ArmInfo. Armenia has been left out of the trans-border The Black Sea submarine cable project,  which spans the South Caucasus region. This information was published on Twitter (X) by the press secretary of the Hungarian Prime Minister Zoltan Kovacs.

He cited Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Trade and  Foreign Affairs of Hungary, who mentioned that the project is  "nearing a critical point of no return" and will import  environmentally friendly electricity from Azerbaijan and Georgia to  Hungary and Romania. During the meeting in Bucharest regarding the  Hungary-Azerbaijan- Georgia-Romania Green Energy Partnership, Kovacs  highlighted the importance of energy security as a key component of  national security during this challenging period.

The minister noted  that "the project is progressing rapidly, with  the electricity companies of the participating countries establishing  a joint venture. They are planning to sign a modified green energy  partnership agreement in the near future. He expressed hope that the  EU would provide financial support for the development of the  infrastructure needed for the initiative and stressed that the  success of such projects often depends on funding. The 1,100-km  submarine cable will facilitate the import of green electricity once  completed," Kovacs said in his publication.
