The largest organization ROTOBO, which focuses on promoting the development of business cooperation between enterprises in Japan and Eurasian countries, is establishing a network to enhance the investment environment between Armenia and Japan (Network for Investment Environment Improvement).
ROTOBO's partner countries include Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan. As stated in the press release of the Ministry of Economy, this was announced during a meeting between the ROTOBO delegation and Armenia's Deputy Minister of Economy Narek Teryan.
It was reported that Teryan was presented with preliminary work on the creation of the network and prospects for cooperation in this area. The main goal of this initiative is to stimulate trade and investment between Japan and Armenia. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain contact and share the necessary information.
According to the RA Statistical Committee, the net flow of Japanese investments in the real sector of Armenia in 2023 was negative, as it was in the previous year, amounting to AMD 1,917.1 million (in 2022 AMD 6,545.3 million). The foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Japan in January-July 2024 decreased by 72.6%, amounting to $69.2 million. At the same time, exports increased by 2.8 times to $4.6 million, during the same period, despite a 74.3% decrease in imports to $64.6 million.
