ArmInfo. Our goal is to transform Kapan Airport into an international or regional airport that offer flights not only to Yerevan, but also to adjacent cities of neighbouring countries.
This was stated by Gnel Sanosyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, during a panel discussion "Prospects of Modern Armenia: Economy, Infrastructure and Technology" held as part of the Global Armenian Summit. He noted that at the moment the airport has increased the frequency of flights to the Armenian capital up to three times.
Sanosyan recalled the negotiations regarding the implementation of a large investment program involving a specially formed working group led by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and the Zvartnots Airport. He mentioned that the parties are nearing agreement on all provisions of the deal. As a result of the implementation of this program, according to the minister, the infrastructure of all airports in Armenia will be enhanced. "Our goal is to create conditions where our airports can serve 10 million passengers annually," Sanosyan emphasized, noting that last year they achieved a record-breaking passenger flow of 5.4 million people in Armenia.
