ArmInfo. Today, our airports operate flights to 45 destinations, and we are working to expand this network. Gnel Sanosyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, stated this during a panel discussion "Prospects of Modern Armenia: Economy, Infrastructure and Technology" held as part of the Global Armenian Summit. In this regard, he reported that work is underway to launch direct flights from Yerevan to New York and Los Angeles in 2025.
Speaking about European destinations, Sanosyan mentioned that Armenia has successfully addressed 40 out of the 41 issues that led to Armenian airlines being placed on the EU blacklist. The Minister pointed out that the majority of these issues were related to staffing levels of the Civil Aviation Committee (CAC), which were inadequate to guarantee flight safety. In this regard, he explained that many CAC employees had resigned due to low salaries. In conclusion, Sanosyan reported that today Armenia is at the final stage of resolving these issues, and once completed, they will invite colleagues from the EU to perform a re- audit.
