ArmInfo. Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Bakytzhan Sagintayev presented the concept of the Digital Union idea at the plenary session of the Eurasian Economic Forum with the participation of the heads of government of the EAEU countries.
According to him, the main goal of the Digital Union is to demonstrate to the peoples of the EAEU countries and businesses the real benefits of Eurasian economic integration. He noted that the Digital Union has already been discussed in detail with the relevant ministries of the member states responsible for digitalization.
Sagintayev emphasized that the three main principles on which the Digital Union is planned to be built do not affect the digital sovereignty of countries in any way. These are compatibility, synchronization and integration.
Speaking about the first principle, the head of the EEC emphasized that the latter does not provide for changes in national digital platforms. "The regulatory and infrastructure solutions that we plan to use in the formation of the Digital Union will be adaptive and universal," he said.
Thanks to the second principle - synchronization - the possibility of seamless interaction of national digital platforms will be ensured.
Integration, as he noted, is aimed at the digitalization of all 4 freedoms in the volumes and at the pace that member states are ready for. "Each country can connect to the elements of the Digital Union as needed," said Sagintayev.
Such principles will allow linking the best country solutions in the field of digitalization, thereby creating conditions for further scaling, building additional channels that states, according to him, can use if necessary.
"The Commission has already created a showcase of national digital services, which will allow our countries to learn about each other's developments," the head of the EEC noted.
