ArmInfo.During the first 6 months, the GDP of the EAEU increased by 4.5%. This growth was primarily attributed to existing intra-union factors, high levels of investment activity and strong consumer demand. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stated this at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
According to him, from January to June of the current year, industrial production in the Union increased by 4.8%, agricultural output by 3.5%, completed construction work by 4%, and retail turnover by almost 8.5%. Mishustin noted that the Union's internal market is becoming increasingly important for the member countries. In this regard, he cited data for the first half of 2024, which shows that mutual trade among the five countries is at 5.7%, with settlements in national currency accounting for 90%. The Russian Prime Minister has named strengthening technological and industrial sovereignty as a priority. In this vein, he recalled that last year a decision was made to launch a supranational mechanism to support cooperation projects in the industrial sector. "We expect that the first project will soon receive funding on preferential terms," he said.
Mishustin also suggested that the Union should consider creating grant support programs for collaborative scientific and design projects carried out by teams of innovators from member countries of the Union. "Another important task is to create a single transportation space, develop international logistics corridors, and establish the appropriate infrastructure," the Russian Prime Minister said. In this context, Mishustin emphasized the importance of focusing on digitalization in the industry and implementing advanced technologies to significantly increase the capacity of current routes, the volume of cargo flows, and to ensure seamless transportation.
