South Caucasus Railways reports 2.8% y/y increase in number of  passengers

ArmInfo. During the summer passenger season of 2024 (June- September), the South Caucasus  Railways company transported almost 220,000 passengers, which is 2.8%  more than the same period last year. This is stated in the message of  SCR CJSC.

In particular, as the source notes, 29,500 passengers were  transported in international traffic by Yerevan- Batumi-Yerevan and  Yerevan-Tbilisi-Yerevan trains. In suburban traffic, 190,400  passengers were transported during the same period, including 7,600  passengers who used the services of the Yerevan- Shorzha-Yerevan  seasonal electric train.

This year, the start of the summer passenger season was interrupted  as a result of the destruction of railway infrastructure in the north  of Armenia due to spring floods. This led to a decrease in demand for  international transportation in June.

Since October 1, the Yerevan-Tbilisi-Yerevan train has been running  in international traffic. Information on purchasing tickets and  prices can be found on the company's website at www.railway.am.
