ArmInfo.Events aimed at increasing the recognition of Armenian wines were held in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The initiator was the Vine and Wine Foundation of Armenia (VWFA) in cooperation with the British IWSC (International Wine and Spirit Competition) and with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The event started in Manchester, where renowned wine expert Caroline Gilby presented more than 68 wines from 30 Armenian wineries at the local Sommelier Club. In Manchester, they talked about Armenian wine regions, style, wine features, grape varieties, as well as Armenian culture and history.
In London, Armenian wines were tasted by industry journalists and wine buyers, who also learned about the history of the renaissance of the Armenian wine industry. The event in London was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United Kingdom Varuzhan Nersesyan, who in his welcoming speech noted the importance of organizing such an event in terms of popularizing Armenian wines for the British public.
The Ambassador noted that winemaking is gaining momentum in Armenia, conquering new markets. He expressed hope that such measures will stimulate the export of Armenian wines to the United Kingdom.
According to the press service of the Foundation, in addition to tastings, roundtable discussions were also held on the potential and prospects of Armenian wines, which is an exceptional opportunity to receive advice on marketing, pricing, sales of Armenian wines in the British market, as well as to establish new connections. It should be noted that according to the Customs Service of the Republic of Armenia, in 2023, Armenia reduced wine exports to the United Kingdom by 57.6%, to 11.1 thousand liters. At the same time, the customs value decreased by 37.4% to $81.5 thousand.
