ArmInfo. Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Arman Khojoyan, who oversees agriculture, received a delegation of the NDC (Nationally determined contributions) Partnership Support Office, which is part of the Paris Agreement agenda, headed by Director General Pablo Vieira.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, the purpose of the visit is to strengthen support for the NDC partnership in the implementation of Armenia's national agenda in the field of climate change ahead of the next presentation of the NDC within the framework of the Paris Agreement.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of opportunities to expand cooperation between Armenia and the NDC Partnership, given the rich financial and technical tools available to member states within the partnership. They discussed a wide range of issues, including food security issues in terms of climate change and ways to address them, the need for smart agriculture taking into account climate change, current agricultural measures related to adaptation and mitigation of climate change and the possibility of expanding them, as well as the need to integrate climate measures into the agricultural sector next year. Established in 2016, the NDC Partnership is an international climate coalition uniting more than 130 developed and developing countries and 100 international institutions to develop and implement ambitious climate programs and actions to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. The Republic of Armenia joined the NDC Partnership in August 2018.
