ArmInfo.Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia Gnel Sanosyan received a delegation headed by Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CoE) Matthieu Mori.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration of the Republic of Armenia, Sanosyan noted the importance of cooperation with the CoE, especially with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, and also emphasized the importance of the support provided to Armenia.
In turn, Matthieu Mori said that the CoE Congress attaches great importance to the programs implemented in Armenia and assured that the support in this direction will be permanent. "Armenia is an island of democracy, and the country's efforts towards democratic reforms are welcomed," added the Secretary General of the Congress of the Council of Europe.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the importance of the post-monitoring process. In this regard, Matthieu Mori said that monitoring in Armenia is planned for next year.
As Sanosyan noted, the monitoring of the CoE Congress serves as an opportunity to demonstrate the results achieved, to check the compliance of the local government system with the European Charter and to identify areas for improvement. The meeting discussed, among other things, issues related to the Union of Communities, subsidies provided to local authorities and subsidy programs implemented at the community level.
