EDB announces conference "Supporting Sustainable Development in  Central Asia"

ArmInfo. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) will hold its annual conference "Supporting Sustainable Development in Central Asia" in Almaty on December 6.

According to the EDB press service, this key event, timed to coincide  with the end of the year, will include discussions on the most  pressing issues of 2024: the need for sustainable and rapid growth to  combat poverty in Central Asia; addressing the problem of transport  connectivity, which is particularly acute in the landlocked countries  of Central Asia.

It is noted that this may be a structural constraint, but it can also  accelerate the transformation of the region into a global transport  hub; organic and comprehensive development of the "water-energy-food"  nexus as the basis for security, peace and development. During the  conference, the EDB analytical team will also present a new  interactive database on non-sovereign financing of MDBs in Eurasia,  which will collect information on such investments in the region.

The EDB added that the theme of this year's conference is  strengthening regional cooperation and sustainable development. The  participants will discuss key topics such as trade facilitation,  investment strategies and innovative solutions for infrastructure  development.

Guests and speakers at the event include representatives of the World  Bank, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the Islamic Development  Bank Institute, the World Food Programme, the United Nations  Development Programme, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, the United  Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific  (ESCAP), the UN Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) and  government agencies.

The panel discussions will examine the most important challenges  facing the Eurasian region, as well as examples of successful  initiatives and best practices in various areas: Partnerships in  Central Asia:  Addressing global challenges but looking at them  through a local lens; Transport connectivity in Central Asia: IDB  approaches; Scaling up Development Finance Institution (DFI)  Financing and Co-financing Flows in Central Asia: Challenges and  Opportunities

Special Presentation. UNFCCC Technology Mechanism for Combating  Climate Change in Eurasia and Central Asia.

The conference will provide stakeholders with a platform for  networking and knowledge sharing that will help strengthen  partnerships that drive economic growth in participating countries.

In conclusion, EDB invited all interested parties to register for the  conference and join this important dialogue on shaping the future of  economic integration in Eurasia.
