
ArmInfo. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia highly appreciates the World Bank's willingness to assist in addressing the hazardous chemical substances present at the Nairit Plant CJSC. This was stated by Kamo Tsutsulyan, Director of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, during a meeting with Sanjay Srivastava, World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia and Europe, and Irina Kaplanyan, Senior Climate Change Advisor.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Senior Climate Specialist Irina Kaplanyan presented the results of the research conducted by the bank and outlined priority areas. "In particular, the issues of resource mobilization, expert analysis of the situation, mapping the area and promoting interdepartmental cooperation within the framework of the program to solve the identified problems were discussed," the statement runs.
In turn, Sanjay Srivastava highlighted the significance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs rescue service's efforts in addressing issues at the Nairit Plant. He also discussed the current situation on the territory of the chemical giant and possible ways to resolve it. According to the source, an agreement was reached on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to continue active cooperation in all areas. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Director of the Rescue Service, Tigran Petrosyan, and Head of the Department for Population Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction, Gurgen Martirosyan.
