Stolen cars in Armenia may be exempt from taxation

ArmInfo. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia is suggesting that  owners of stolen and wanted vehicles should be exempt from paying property tax. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Armenia approved amendments to the Tax and Criminal Procedure Codes on November 21.

The proposed change to Article 245 of the Tax Code would exempt  owners of vehicles that have been taken from them due to a crime from  paying property tax on the vehicle.  Owners of vehicles that have  been stolen are exempt from paying property tax on the vehicle from  the moment a criminal case is initiated on the theft until the  vehicle is returned to the owner's possession.  <As a result of the  adoption of the project, owners of vehicles that have been stolen  will be exempt from paying property tax. This will allow the  community to collect property tax directly from the perpetrator of  the crime>, the document states.
