ArmInfo. Newly appointed Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia David Khudatyan held a meeting with the head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) office in the South Caucasus Maciej Czura.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the Minister expressed readiness to continue cooperation with the Bank, since, as he noted, the jointly implemented programs are extremely important for the department.
In this regard, the regional head of the EIB emphasized the need to deepen bilateral cooperation. The parties discussed the progress of the implementation of joint programs.
The European Investment Bank is a public financial and credit institution of the European Union for financing the development of backward European regions in the form of long-term loans. It was established in 1958 with the aim of providing loans for the construction and reconstruction of objects that are of interest to countries. Currently, the Bank operates not only in the EU Member States, but also in more than 160 countries.
As stated on the website, the EIB operates in Armenia in accordance with the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), the Eastern Partnership (EaP) and other bilateral EU agreements. Over the past decade, the Bank has provided financing for a wide range of projects: from infrastructure and small businesses to water supply and wastewater treatment services. Over the past period, the EIB has financed 210 projects for approximately 640 million euros. The EIB operates in Armenia mainly in the fields of energy, transport, road construction, water supply, solid waste management and the environment.
