On November 25-29, Asuncion (Republic of Paraguay) hosted the annual conference of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information on Taxation of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), within the framework of which the 7th high-level meeting of the Asian Initiative was held on November 25. The conference was chaired by Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia Rafael Gevorgyan.
According to the press service of the State Revenue Committee, the Deputy Chairman emphasized the importance of the work carried out within the framework of the Asian Initiative for the countries of the region, in particular for the Republic of Armenia. The meeting was also marked by the unprecedented participation of observer countries and the importance of the issues raised.
Rafael Gevorgyan also took part in a panel discussion within the framework of the annual conference of the OECD Global Forum. Highlighting the importance of the work done by the Global Forum to develop and implement a crypto-asset reporting standard, Gevorkyan noted that the success of the standard's implementation will be smoother and more effective if all countries adopt it as quickly as possible.
The next panel discussion was related to the work aimed at increasing the potential for information exchange, especially within the framework of regional initiatives. During the discussion, the representative of the RA emphasized the importance of such a format of international cooperation, which makes the exchange of information a more targeted and effective process on the part of the RA Tax Service, and a number of successes have been recorded in this direction.
At the same time, it was emphasized that the creation of an information exchange system also has an unprecedented effect on increasing tax discipline in the field of revenue collection in the world. It should be noted that the Asian Initiative was established in 2022 under the auspices of the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Information Exchange, which includes 171 member countries, including all G20 countries and 23 observers, and is the leading international body working to implement international standards for tax information exchange and transparency worldwide.
