ArmInfo. Armenian Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, received Tafadzwa Dube, Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist at the World Bank. Lusine Gevorgyan, Chairperson of the Tourism Committee of Armenia, also attended the meeting. The parties discussed the implementation of the Local Economy and Infrastructure Development Program (LEIDP) and the Tourism and Regional Infrastructure Improvement Program (TRIP). They talked about the programs' details, financial components, priority action plans, and possible implementation deadlines.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, the interlocutors also touched upon the prospects for developing the tourism sector in Armenia and the potential for expanding tourism clusters with the support of the World Bank. In this regard, they addressed several related to establishing a tourism cluster in Gyumri. Recall that the World Bank allocated $100 million to create 10 tourism clusters in Armenia, including settlements such as Areni, Jeruk, Goris, Dvin, Gyumri, Aparan, Yeghegis, Sevan, Dilijan and others. The program will be implemented from 2025 to 2029.
