ArmInfo. On December 5-6, the capital of Kazakhstan hosted the XII International Forum <Anti-Counterfeit-2024>, dedicated to combating illicit trafficking in industrial products and protecting intellectual property rights.
The forum was attended by representatives of government agencies from the Eurasian Union countries, as well as heads of large companies and organizations, and leading international experts. Deputy Minister of Economy Sevak Mikaelyan participated in the conference (online) on behalf of Armenia. The event is a large platform that provides an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues related to the protection of intellectual property rights, including trends, best practices, and measures to combat illicit trafficking in industrial products. In his speech, Sevak Mikaelyan spoke about the amendments made to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, the Civil Code of the Republic of Armenia, and the Law of the Republic of Armenia <On Customs Regulation>. These changes clarify the norms and tighten sanctions for violations of intellectual property rights. Additionally, the Deputy Minister touched upon the process of improving regulation to counteract violations of rights in the digital environment.
It should be noted that the organizers of the XII International Forum <Anti-Counterfeit> are: the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the International Anti- Counterfeit Association. Based on the results of the Forum, a Final Resolution was developed. It contains harmonized proposals on the positions of representatives of states, businesses and the public voiced during the Forum. These proposals include issues related to the harmonization of national legislations of the EAEU countries.
