
ArmInfo. The companies "South Caucasus Railway" and "Georgian Railway" summed up the results of cooperation for 2024 and outlined plans for the next year, 2025. The corresponding meeting with the participation of delegations and the heads of the two companies, Alexey Melnikov and David Peradze, took place on December 16 in Tbilisi, the press service of "SCR" reported.
During the meeting, the source noted, the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral issues. In particular, they discussed the participation of representatives of the Georgian Railway in the restoration of the SCR infrastructure damaged by the flood of the Debed River in May 2024. The Georgian side provided rolling stock - 30 cars and a diesel locomotive, and employees of the Georgian Railway were sent to Armenia to participate in the elimination of the consequences of the flood.
The General Director of the South Caucasus Railway awarded his Georgian colleague David Peradze with the badge "Cooperation, interaction with JSC South Caucasus Railway". In addition, for "the demonstrated high level of professionalism, unprecedented assistance, for the coordinated joint work to eliminate the consequences of the flood, 11 drivers and assistant drivers of the Georgian Railway were awarded the badge "For mutual assistance of JSC South Caucasus Railway".
"SCR" emphasizes the significance and importance of the assistance provided by the railway workers of Georgia and expresses deep gratitude and appreciation to the management and the entire staff of the Georgian Railway. Among other things, the results of interaction between the two companies in 2024, issues of organizing container transportation in international rail traffic, improving the tariff policy in international traffic in 2025 and organizing passenger transportation in the summer season of next year were discussed.
During the discussion, the meeting participants confirmed their intentions to continue joint bilateral work and develop partnerships aimed at improving the operational work of railways. The parties also agreed to maintain the agreed through tariff rates in effect in 2024 for 2025. The Georgian side also informed their Armenian colleagues that a new program for the sale of travel tickets "Orion 2" is in the process of being implemented, the joint trial operation of which will begin in April 2025.
