ArmInfo. A waste processing plant needs to be built in Yerevan. This was stated by the Mayor of the capital of Armenia Tigran Avinyan at a working meeting in the capital's municipality on December 23.
According to him, it is important to implement the project in several stages. At the first stage, it is necessary to receive technical specifications for two competitive proposals, for which, within the framework of a public-private partnership, a project package for the construction of the plant will be received. This package will have to include the complete conservation of the garbage dump in Nubarashen. "And here the deadlines are very important, since we are tied to election promises and must fulfill these promises," said Tigran Avinyan, adding that at the second stage it will already be necessary to have a work schedule in hand, since the topic has been on the agenda for 10 years and has not received its resolution. According to the mayor, the problem must finally be solved. The Yerevan City Hall, together with the government and international structures, is ready to invest the necessary funds in it.
Earlier, Tigran Avinyan stated that the city authorities plan to resolve the issue of closing the Nubarashen landfill, the largest dump in Armenia, within three to four years. At this stage, the issue of installing underground containers is also being discussed.
