ArmInfo. The feasibility study of the "Dry Port" program in Gyumri indicates that with the launch of the government's "Crossroads of Peace" project and the achievement of peace in the region, the "Dry Port" is quite urgent, as stated by Gevorg Papoyan, the Minister of Economy, during a year-end press conference on January 13.
"And in this sense, the "Dry Port" will become a significant regional transport hub", he emphasized. The Minister noted that in addition to political statements on the "Crossroads of the World" project, specific actions are also being taken. In this regard, he emphasized that the government initiative is not merely a concept, but a concrete program, which requires the launch of the North-South road as a first step. He stated that work on the North-South is currently progressing intensively. He also mentioned that the next stage will involve developing the railway network. He referred to a feasibility study conducted by "Tetratek", which outlines the specific actions necessary for implementation. "We are also considering conducting a more detailed economic study regarding the final calculations of the economic impact. And in this sense, an additional $50 million in investment will be necessary. Negotiations are already underway with various companies. Naturally, this process should proceed concurrently with the implementation of the "Crossroads of Peace" project," he emphasized.
