Armenia hopes for new victories World Tasting Contest - minister

ArmInfo. Armenia is counting on new victories of Armenian winemakers at the World Tasting Contest "Concours Mondial de Bruxelles", RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated during a meeting with CMB Director Quentin Havaux.

As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, with the  support of the Armenian Viticulture and Winemaking Foundation,  several types of wines presented by Armenian winemaking companies  have taken part in the red and white wine competition "Concours  Mondial de Bruxelles" over the past two years and won 35 medals, both  gold and silver. Gevorg Papoyan emphasized the importance of the  victory of Armenian wines at this prestigious competition, both from  the point of view of presenting the ancient traditions of Armenian  winemaking, and from the point of view of international recognition  of Armenian wines.

The Minister stressed that Armenia has once again applied to  participate in the 2025 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and expects to  hold it with great enthusiasm and at a high level in anticipation of  new victories by Armenian winemakers.

During the meeting, a number of issues related to the development of  viticulture and winemaking in Armenia, the popularization of Armenian  wine, as well as strengthening the position of Armenian wine in  international markets were discussed.

As ArmInfo previously reported, in Armenia, over the 10 months of  this year, the production volumes of all alcoholic beverages produced  in the country, with the exception of wine and champagne, have  increased.  According to the RA Statistical Committee, in  January-October 2024, wine production volumes decreased by 26.2% to  8.1 million liters, sparkling wine (champagne) - by 24% to 839.6  thousand liters. At the same time, the volume of whiskey production  increased significantly - by 8.1 times to 4.1 million liters. More  moderate growth was recorded in the production of cognac - by 6.5% to  16.4 million liters, vodka, liqueur and other alcoholic beverages -  by 5.3% to 1 million liters, and beer - by 6.7% to 25.3 million  liters.
