ArmInfo. In 2024, Armenia's population increased by 84.6 thousand people (up to 3.076 million), but the entry-exit balance remained negative. This is evidenced by the data from the RA Statistical Committee.
In particular, in 2024, 2.089 million Armenian citizens entered Armenia from foreign countries (an annual increase of 6%), while 2.104 million left (an annual increase of 4.8%). As a result, according to the electronic border control system, the negative balance of entry and exit was 14,932 thousand people, a 59.1% decrease from 2023.
In 2024, a total of 4.752 million people entered the country from abroad, and 4.757 million people left representing a decrease of 0.2% and 0.7%, respectively compared to the previous year. This resulted in negative balance of -4,212 thousand people, with an annual decrease of 85.7% (from the negative balance of-29,494 thousand in 2023). According to the Passport and Visa Center of the RA Police, a total of 99,370 thousand people registered in Armenia in 2024, which is 60% higher than the figure for the previous year. The majority of these individuals were citizens of the Republic of Artsakh, the Russian Federation, Georgia, Syria and Iran.
Additionally 103,001 thousand people were deregistered (with an annual increase of 53.4%), of which the vast majority were citizens of Russia, France, the USA, Germany and Georgia. According to the Tourism Committee, 2.14 million tourists visited Armenia in 2024, which is 7.4% lower than the figure for the previous year. Traditionally, the lion's share falls on Russian tourists (43% or 922.2 thousand), followed by tourists from Georgia (13% or 279.3 thousand), Iran (8.4% or 75.8 thousand), the USA (2.8% or 59.6 thousand), India (2% or 43.5 thousand), China (1.5% or 32.2 thousand), and France (1.4% or 28.7 thousand).
It should be noted that the Statistical Committee publishes migration data with a one -year delay. Thus, according to the source, in 2023, Armenia had a positive migration balance of 41.4 thousand people, which was 6.8 times higher than the figure in 2022. Let us recall that on September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan, under the pretext of an "anti-terrorist operation", committed another act of aggression against Artsakh. This was preceded by a nearly 10-month blockade of the unrecognized republic. As a result, over 100 thousand Artsakh citizens were forcibly displaced to Armenia.
