ArmInfo. Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Mkhitar Hayrapetyan received representatives of the World Bank headed by Regional Director for the South Caucasus Roland Price. The meeting was attended by First Deputy Minister Gevorg Mantashyan, Deputy Minister Gevorg Meliksetyan, World Bank Country Director for Armenia Carolin Geginat and other representatives.
According to the press service of the ministry, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan presented the directions and priorities of strategic importance for the RA government, stressed the special importance of the efforts of the Armenian government aimed at implementing the "Crossroads of the World" project, aimed at stimulating regional connectivity.
The minister also presented the legislative reforms and programs planned and implemented by the department, touched upon various programs implemented jointly with the World Bank, in particular, the "Engineering City" initiative, which, according to him, is one of the best examples of cooperation. He expressed hope that the scope of cooperation will expand in the near future.
Roland Price, in turn, thanked for the warm welcome, presented key World Bank programs, in particular, projects implemented in the region. He also touched upon the possibilities of involving Armenia in the planned programs.
The discussion also focused on a number of agenda issues, including cybersecurity, digital identification, cloud policy and the development of broadband Internet connections.
As a result of the meeting, agreements were reached on further steps and joint programs to deepen cooperation between the high-tech sector of Armenia and the World Bank.
