
ArmInfo.Armenia needs long-term energy security, as stated by Vassilis Maragos, the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, in his speech at the fourth meeting of the Armenia-European Union Parliamentary Partnership Committee.
According to him, in order to achieve this goal, the EU supports such initiatives of Armenia as the "Black Sea Submarine Cable" and the "Caucasian Power Transmission Network", as well as the development of alternative and renewable energy in the country. The head of the EU delegation emphasized the importance of implementing the North-South transport corridor, which has received support from the EU, especially the Gyumri-Landzhik road section, funded by European structures.
In general, Maragos continued, over 600 million euros have been allocated for specific projects within the framework of the Sustainability and Growth program, benefiting both businesses and road safety. As part of these initiatives, improvements will be made to the road in the direction of Kajaran, enhancing safety and connectivity between the Syunik region and other parts of the country, including Yerevan. Maragos also reported that the export of Armenian cognac to the countries of the European Union has begun in 2024.
The delegation head also mentioned the importance of internationalizing the TUMO Center and enhancing its global reputation. "Next Sunday, we will open a new TUMO center in Kapan, supported significantly by the EU," Vassilis Maragos concluded
