ArmInfo. The Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of the Republic of Armenia, Eduard Hakobyan, received the Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos.
As reported by the press service of the SRC, Eduard Hakobyan highly appreciated the support provided by the EU in customs and tax administration over the years. He also noted the effectiveness of the long-term cooperation established between the parties. During the meeting, the Chairman of the SRC presented the agenda of bilateral cooperation. Specifically, he discussed the projects for the reconstruction and modernization of the Agarak checkpoint, the construction of foreign economic activity service centers in Sisian and Yerevan, their current status and challenges.
The project to modernize infrastructure at border checkpoints, launched jointly with the EBRD, was also discussed, and additional steps for its implementation were outlined. The parties emphasized the importance of implementing the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the EU in relation to customs reforms, as well as the work currently being done under potential EU technical assistance. At the end of the meeting, the importance of continuing cooperation with the EU with a more comprehensive agenda was emphasized. This includes the prospects for the developing the State Revenue Committee strategy, as well as the priorities within the framework of integrated border management, that stem from the common RA-EU agenda.
